Sugar…

sugar 2We are hearing so much about sugar in the press at the moment.  And it is shocking how much we consume daily, whether we are aware of it or not.

I would recommend you avoid processed foods, daily fizzy drinks and sweets to help you to reduce the sugar burden, but you already knew that right?

I have recently discovered a great alternative to ‘sugar’.  It’s not Xylitol, Agave nectar, honey,  stevia or fructose fruit sugar, its called Palmyra Jaggery by conscious foods.

Palmyra Jaggery – is known in India as “sugar for diabetics”.   It is the only plant-based source of vitamin B12 in the world, low GI and is exceptionally rich in B Vitamins, iron, potassium, magnesium and other essential minerals vital for maintaining good health and vitality.  Researchers in India are finding that it may also help to break down the opiate-like addiction caused by processed sugar, thus freeing you from that constant desire to nibble and helping you to maintain healthy weight that is essential for leading a life full of vitality.

I used this fabulous new sugar in one of my raw chocolate mouses, and it was lovely.  It’s got a caramel taste and looks like brown sugar but finer, the extra iron and B12 is really useful for vegans!  Let me know what you think!  I love it…
