Get ready for winter…

10/09/2010

Did you know consuming 100grams or 4ounces of sugar/carbohydrate reduces immune responses for over 5 hours.  It’s thought to be caused by the elevation of insulin levels.

Therefore, with autumn upon us, try to keep off the refined sugar (cakes, sweets, biscuits) and carbohydrates (crisps, potatoes, white rice, bread).

Here are some tips for improving your immune system:

♥       Eat green vegetables such as kale, broccoli, cabbage, watercress and spinach everyday

♥       Eat nutritionally rich meals (don’t skip a meal) no processed fast foods.

♥       Drink water in between meals (stay hydrated)

♥       Have 7 hours sleep everynight (at least)

♥       Exercise regularly

♥       Laugh everyday.

If you want to go a step further I recommend taking a multi vitamin, and a broad spectrum probiotic.

p.s. sugar increases cholesterol levels too…
